Idle is an open-source screensaver app for Android TV. This policy covers the app and the sign-in helper at idle.dogu.me.
What Idle accesses
When you connect a Google account, Idle asks for read-only access to your calendars (calendar.readonly) and your email address, which is shown so you can tell connected accounts apart. Idle only reads events to display them on your TV. It never creates, changes or deletes anything.
Where your data goes
- Your settings, calendar events and sign-in tokens are stored only on your TV.
- The helper at idle.dogu.me exists because Google requires a fixed web address for sign-in. It exchanges Google's one-time code for tokens and passes them straight to your TV, and later turns your TV's stored token into a short-lived access token. It does not store, log or share tokens or calendar data, and it has no database.
- Calendar events are fetched by your TV directly from Google or Apple.
- Weather is fetched by your TV from Open-Meteo using the city you choose.
Use of Google user data
Idle's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to show your agenda on your TV, is never transferred to others, never used for advertising, and never read by people.
Removing access
Remove the account in Idle's setup page, uninstall the app, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
